The Story

When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again. Freaky Friday, a new musical based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, is a heartfelt, comedic, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. By spending a day in each other's shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another's struggles, learn self-acceptance, and realize the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter.​​

About the Audition

Students must prepare a one minute memorized monologue of their choosing that they feel helps them portray the character/role they are auditioning for. Additionally, each student must prepare a 16 to 32 bar cut of a song to sing that showcases the range and style required for the character/role they are auditioning for. Each student must sign up for an audition block during one of the available audition dates. Students will audition individually and then participate in group cold reads/scene work with the director and artistic staff.

Show Information

Rehearsal Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays

​**Not every cast member will need to be at every rehearsal. Attendance is based on scenes are being rehearsed at each rehearsal and which characters appear in those scenes. Please bring a complete list of all conflicts to your audition! Each student auditioning will be required to fill out a conflict calendar at the audition.

Show Dates: July 31 - August 2, 2026

Tech Week: July 26 - 31, 2026 (no absences permitted)

Show Location: Carlisle High School, Carlisle, OH  45005

Participation Fee: $130 per cast member (discounts available for families with multiple students)
